At a time when most urban areas are struggling with a lack of land for new construction projects, development is often encroaching on increasingly challenging terrain. These include areas with high groundwater levels, those located directly adjacent to natural reservoirs, rivers, streams, and other watercourses.

If a facility is at risk of flooding (flood hazard), a sensor system automatically initiates the dam closure procedure. Each time the dam closes and the red light flashes, it is preceded by an orange light, indicating a flood hazard. Each dam is equipped with a separate warning system mounted on a steel profile.
